For example, recently a well-known public media company was considering changes in one of its signature public radio programs. They wanted to know the viability, financial risks and likely outcome if they made the changes.
KMA conducted off-the-record executive interviews with a “kitchen cabinet” of knowledgeable programmers, obtained detailed financial and carriage data about competitors and conducted Affinity Group [link] research with core listeners.
After the investigation, KMA concluded the changes would likely result in additional carriage and increased revenue. KMA learned that the existing program was not taking full advantage of sponsor credit positions in the program’s clock – leaving “money on the table” so to speak.
The client decided to go ahead with the changes but the economic recession caused plans to go on hold.
